MEMBERS VISIT TO AEROPLANE MONTHLY AND THE SHIPPING AND AIRLINES COLLECTION AT BIGGIN HILL
Tuesday 28th Feb. 2012
With many thanks to member Peter Greenyer, we are invited to be his guests to visit the Shipping and Airlines historic aircraft collection at Biggin Hill. We also hope to include a visit to the nearby offices of Aeroplane Monthly magazine.
A full itinerary is still being prepared. The plan so far is a 10.30 arrival at the Shipping and Airlines hangar at Bigglin Hill, for refreshments and a look at their unique collection of pre-war aircraft including the sole surviving Civilian Coupe, Travel Air biplane, Miles Messenger and their latest addition, a 1930s Rearwin Sportster, powered by a unique in the UK, Le Blond five cylinder radial engine.
After lunch in a nearby hostelry, we will then drop in on the offices of Aeroplane Monthly magazine to meet key staff and see work in progress on one of Britain’s longest-established aviation titles.
