We have decided to amend our plans for Saturday 19th March 2011, the HAA Annual Meeting at the Shuttleworth Trust, Old Warden. The following note from our Chairman, Rick Peacock-Edwards explains:
I am sure that many of you knew, either personally or by reputation the late Bill Ison, the legendary Chief Flying Instructor of the Cambridge Flying Group for almost six decades, who passed away last week in his 90th year. We were informed yesterday that a special “Celebration of his Life” will be held at Cambridge Airport on the 19th March at 13.30 – and I am sure many HAA members will wish to attend.
That of course, was also the date of our Annual Meeting and Flying Forum at Old Warden. We have therefore decided as a mark of our respect to Bill, that while we will go ahead with the HAA Annual Meeting, we will postpone the Flying Forum for another day.
We will aim to complete our activities at Old Warden between 10am and 12, thus allowing sufficient time for those members who wish, to travel to Cambridge for the Celebration. Alternatively HAA members who have pre-booked for the Annual Meeting will have free access to the Shuttleworth Trust for the remainder of the day.
We will inform you of our revised plans for the Flying Forum shortly, but I can hint that we are working on a venue and date which will grab everybody’s attention!
Best wishes
Rick.
The changes to the planned afternoon activities will not affect the HAA Annual Meeting on Saturday morning.
Admission to both the AGM and Shuttleworth Trust will be free to HAA members registered in advance. Non-members are very welcome to join us, but will pay normal Shuttleworth Trust admission on the day.
A registration form will be sent to members shortly and will also be available on the website.
Flying in, and if required, on to Cambridge may be possible subject to airfield conditions. It will as always, be subject to strict PPR with Old Warden and at Cambridge.
