THE 2015 CONROD TROPHY

Nominations are now invited from all HAA members for the award of the 2015 Conrod Trophy. This is your opportunity to participate in the process of recognising a worthy recipient of this prestigious trophy.

The Conrod Trophy was originally presented to the HAA by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to recognise outstanding contributions to the preservation and safe operation of Historic Aircraft.

With the introduction of the Darrol Stinton Memorial Trophy in 2013, the recognition of individuals that have made a major contribution to the furtherance of historic aviation was vested in the new trophy. This has allowed the HAA Council to re-align the Conrod Trophy to be awarded to particular restoration projects or organisations that have made a significant contribution to the continuing airworthiness and presentation of historic aircraft in the UK.

For example in recent year’s, the winners of the Conrod Trophy have been The Vulcan to the Sky 2013 for keeping XH588 flying, and in 2014 it went to Aircraft Restoration Company for their restoration of the Blenheim. (In contrast, the recipients of the Darrol Stinton Memorial Trophy have been David Ogilvie in 2013, Desmond Penrose in 2014, and this year Stephen Grey.)

It is now your opportunity to nominate to Council which organisation or project you consider as worthy of receiving the Conrod Trophy 2015. Member nominations will be graded according to number of votes, and then the Council will announce the recipient at the Annual Meeting and Flying Forum on 19th March at Old Warden.

Please email me with your nomination by no later than 5th January 2016.

Thank you and kind regards,

Wishing you all the best for Christmas,
