DUE TO A last minute change in airshow commitments the Classic Flight Club hosted a ‘spur of the moment’ Open Day at its Coventry Airport base on Saturday June 27th this year.

They were keen to promote the club and extended an invitation to HAA members, friends and family to join them on the Saturday.

The resident Avro Shackleton was firing up its four mighty Rolls Royce Griffon engines during the afternoon.

For those interested in a behind the scenes look at how Classic Flight keep their eclectic fleet of old aeroplanes aloft they also offered tours of the hangar and maintenance facilities.

The Classic Flight Club’s de Havilland Dragon Rapide biplanes also offered pleasure flights all day.

Classic Flight Club operates a fleet of old aeroplanes varying from Chipmunk and Auster to Meteor, Vampire and Venom jet fighters.

They also operate ultra-rare examples of the Percival Prentice and Pembroke, Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer and one of only two airworthy ex-military Avro Ansons in the world.

The club is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to raise money through memberships and other support to preserve classic aviation.
