HAA members with appropriate aeroplanes have been invited to fly in to Coventry this weekend 29-30 May. Attached invitation from Steve Bridgewater at AACF explains all:
Hi all,
After many months of planning and hard work we are finally opening the AIRBASE visitor centre this weekend at Coventry Airport. We’d like to attract some visiting aeroplanes and wondered if you’d like to join us?
Although landing fees at Coventry and now ‘rather’ expensive we have managed to do a ‘deal’ to enable visitors to our opening weekend to fly in for free. There is also two hours free parking available at the airport.
If you’d like to fly in this weekend you’ll need to PPR as normal with the airport but also PPR with us (giving us your registration and ETA) by e-mail on [email protected] or on 02476 882617. This way we can let the airport know you’re visiting us and not to charge for your landing.
Admission to AIRBASE is £8 with children costing £4 and under 8s getting in for free.
Although we won’t be flying passengers this weekend (the airport is still unlicensed!) we will be offering ‘Back to the Fifties’ taxi-rides in the DC-6 and both the Nimrod and the Shackleton will be open for viewing. There’s also the distinct possibility that several of our aeroplanes will be conducting ‘air tests’ over the weekend – including the Anson and a Venom.
If you’re able to join us we’d be delighted to see you. We’re open all weekend from 10.00 til 18.00.
We have around 30 aircraft on show – ranging from 1930s Dragon Rapides to the Canberra jet bombers. More details at www.airbase-europe.com
Best wishes
Steve
