ICAO has listened to a joint approach by IAOPA and the FAI to modify the draconian measures arising from the requirement for ALL pilots in the world to be assessed in their competance in the English language. Lack of such competance would have grounded them.

It might have been the end of any foreign touring by non English speaking aviators flying under VFR and outside CAS but ICAO accepted the joint approach.

It remains to be seen what the response will be from our own CAA.
