In a highly successful post-COVID restart to the HAA’s popular visits programme, a dozen members of the Association were hosted by Aircraft Restoration Company at Duxford for a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the company’s restoration projects and flying aircraft fleet.

The tour took members through the various marks of Spitfire from the IWM’s ex-Dunkirk Mk.1 to the Griffon-powered Mk.XIV, pausing along the way to view a Battle of Britain veteran Hurricane, Westland Lysander and the mighty Hawker Typhoon project (featured in the recent HAA Symposium) upon which work is now commencing. There was also a lighter moment when visit co-ordinator Sue Stowe was able to find her name among the near 7,000 now carried on the ‘NHS Spitfire’!
