For those who may not have picked up on the changes introduced by the CAA on the 1st July 2013, reproduced at the Engineering Section of this website are the links to all the CAA Airworthiness notices etc that have introduced the latest changes.

In essence it is no longer a mandatory requirement to routinely carry out an Air Check or Air Test flight to qualify for the renewal of an expiring National Certificate of Airworthiness; annual EASA Permit to Fly; National Airworthiness Review Certificate; or Certificate of Validity. The requirement for an Air Test or Check Flight will be the decision of the maintenance organisation applying for the C of A, Permit, Review Certificate or Cert of Validity.

The new regulations have the effect of reducing a certain amount of the bureaucracy and attendant costs that were a feature of the previous mandatory Air Check requirements.

The HAA is pleased that we are gradually achieving appropriate regulation based on best practice and safety with our colleagues at the CAA Airworthiness Department. We will continue to work with the CAA to develop further regulation that is appropriate to the Historic Aircraft industry.
