The HAA once again invites all members and non-member guests to the annual HAA Symposium at the RAF Museum, for our full-day event immersed in vintage and historic aviation. We have four main presentations in the day, with a high quality seated lunch in between.
This year our themes explore 80 years of the much-loved Chipmunk, its history and the challenges and rewards of displaying they type. We also have the full details story of the incredible Mk1 Spitfire which emerged from a French beach and its subsequent restoration to become one of the airworthy jewels of the UK historic fleet.
The third presentation tells the background and future plans for one of the UK’s most exciting private collections, which now includes soon -to-be completed examples of the Dh-2 and a Farman biplane, not forgetting other treasures such as a Grumman Wildcat and an Avro 504.
We finish the day with a ‘from the cockpit’ account of the almost unique ( in Europe ) challenges of operating a WW2 flying boat from water. The Catalina crew have years of experience, from Loch Ness to the Mediterranean, with plenty of adventures and video to put you right there !
